The project:
We recently renovated one of our bedrooms into my home office, and for two people who up until doing this had never even picked up a paint brush. I’m extremely proud of this project.
- Materials:
British Paints - Winter Mist (Walls)
Dulux - Matte Casper White (Ceiling & Doors/Door Frames)
Plastic skirting
Sticky cord conduit used for cable management
Replaced Blinds
- Tools:
Paintbrushes/Rollers (Many)
Ryobi toolset (amazing bundle btw)
Painters tape (many tapings occurred)
Electric Sander (God send)
Electric planer to allow the door to open and close with more ease
- Step 1:
Step 1 was prep, and this stage was definitely the most tedious. This room was once used as a bedroom but had since become a junk room if you will, the house had some water damage come through one of the walls a few years back and that left us with quite a bit of damage that needed repairing. So out came the electric sander, spack fill and paint.
- Step 2:
Step 2 was the start of the fun stuff, we chose our paints and got our old clothes on and began attempting to paint for the first time in our lives, and we decided to do it the right way with a coat of primer before we applied the British Paints Winter Mist, many plastic trays, brushes & rollers were lost in battle.
- Step 3:
Step 3 was the ceiling and this part was not so much fun, after applying the Casper White paint we decided to go with, I was feeling pain in muscles I didn’t know I had, I think that it turned out amazing and I’m glad we decided to go through with it.
- Step 4:
Step 4 was doors and frames, I loved this part. We went with Casper White just like the ceiling and shoutout to my partner on the frames while I did the doors, we also changed all of the door handles in our house to black, which I think pops really well.
- Step 5:
Step 5 was skirting, this part was made much easier with the help of my father in law (shoutout Mick) I think doing this alone would have taken the last ounce of patience i had left, we decided on white skirting to flow with the colour of the ceiling.
- Step 6:
Step 6 is where we are now, the really fun part; Decoration. Moving all of the shelving, desk and computer into the room and making it my safe space. We put up some floating shelves last night which look amazing imo. I can’t wait to see what else we can do with this space.
