The project:
Over the past seven years, my husband and I have transformed our home entirely by ourselves using hard work, creativity, and countless weekends. We built a new timber deck and staircase, landscaped the gardens, created a lush tropical pond oasis, refreshed the outdoor entertaining areas, restored and stained all the timber, improved the pool surrounds, and completely revitalised our backyard. Every project was planned and completed by us, turning an ordinary outdoor space into a beautiful, functional retreat that our family adores. We're so proud that our renovations reflect not only our DIY skills but seven years of dedication, patience and passion.

- Step 1:
Planned the renovation and completed the entire project ourselves over seven years, tackling one area at a time.
- Step 2:
Built a new timber deck and staircase, including the balustrades and cable railing.
- Step 3:
Restored, sanded and stained all timber decking and stairs to bring them back to life.
- Step 4:
Created a tropical pond garden, installing the pond and surrounding it with lush landscaping and feature plants.
- Step 5:
Landscaped the front and side gardens, adding retaining walls, garden beds, mulch, rocks and feature gardens.
- Step 6:
Transformed the pool area with tropical planting, new garden beds, mulch, and feature plants.
- Step 7:
Installed artificial turf to create a low maintenance, family friendly backyard.
- Step 8:
Added outdoor features and decor, including potted plants, ornaments, lighting and seating areas to complete the spaces.
- Step 9:
Continually improved and maintained every area, replacing plants, adding colour and refining the design over time.
- Step 10:
Created a cohesive outdoor oasis, turning an ordinary property into a beautiful, and functional space for our family to enjoy.
