The project:
Decided to rip my back yard apart and renovate it! Build a custom floating deck of my back door, all materials purchased from Bunnings. Also installing a retaining wall around my yard! Also purchased all materials for the retaining wall at Bunnings! Was supper happy with the outcome! Expecially from someone that works daily with steel !!
- Materials:
Different lengths of 140mm x 19mm merbau decking boards. Also purchased the timber for the bearers and joists from the same Bunnings!!

- retaining wall concrete sleepers and posts where all brought from Bunnings as a special order!!
- Tools:
tools used for the job where mostly pre owned or purchased from Bunnings!
- circular saw, timber plainer, tech gun, pistols drill for pre drilling boards.
-hammer, string lines, G clamps.
- Step 1:
started by marking out pier holes, concreting legs/feet in and running them all by string lines and a level to get plumb.
Cut out slots in the top of the feet so the bearers slotted into them so all weight was ontop of piers then when set Screwed off.then spaced out joists ontop and screw off. then started laying decking boards off with 4mm spacers I got from Bunnings, used clamps to help secure while screwing off and pre drilling boards, much easier with a extra set of hands.
Finally stained boards when everything complete.
