The project:
As soon as we purchased our new home, the kitchen was the first job on the list. We had the floor replaced first and in this process changed the existing closed in kitchen to a U shaped kitchen. We added new appliances, painted the cabinets that were in good condition and replaced the ones that were not. By adding a new tile splashback, range hood, tapware, paint and ceiling repairs, a huge improvement was made! We loved the original natural timber Benchtops so kept them.
- Materials:
Dulux Renovation Range paint in Lexicon Quarter.
Handles
Mixer tap
Crack filler
Tubman's ‘Dhimba’ paint for the walls
- Tools:
Paintbrushes
Electric sander and sanding pads
Cabinet hinges
Spirit level
- Step 1:
Removed cabinet doors and sanded back to the vinyl (they already had 2 coats of existing paint!). Painted with primer, our chosen colour (lexicon quarter). Then a sealer. Added new handles.
- Step 2:
Had a tiler replace the tile splashback. Installed new oven, dishwasher and rangehood.
- Step 3:
Repaired wall and ceiling and painted in ‘Dhimba’ by Taubmans.
