The project:

I purchased my home in April 2025. With the help of my family, we transformed this 1977 additional room into a modern oasis filled with new paint, light and lots of love.

- Materials:

lots of hard yakka! Hammer, nail gun, termite treated timber, gyprock, paint, I know I am missing other items but could find the receipts for them all!

- Tools:

nail gun, nails, hammer, drop saw, paint brush, roller, Ruby the dog 😆

- Step 1:

Begged my brother to help!

Pulled down existing cupboard

Ripped up old carpet

Painted brown walls with Taubmans touch of Venus to make white/grey tones

replaced brown fan with new Bunnings fan

Smashed existing stairs and hand rail

Built new stairs

Built Timber frame against existing brickwork and covered with gyprock

Engaged gyprocker to finish off and carpenter to do the skirting etc

Painted in taubmans touch of Venus

What a wonderfully executed update! The room feels completely refreshed, with the new paint, modern lighting, and feature wall creating a clean and contemporary look. The new wall for the large TV is a smart addition, giving the space a clear focal point and improving the layout. Once furnished, this will be a warm and inviting space for family and friends to relax and enjoy. A fantastic transformation overall!
