- Step 1:
1. Spray all bolts with WD 40
2. dismantle bench and measure timber span
3, strip all loose rust and flaking paint using a wire brush. Scrub the metal clean with warm water and detergent to remove grease and dirt. Once completely dry, wipe it down with mineral turpentine and apply a rust-inhibiting metal primer and spray paint with 2 coats of metal paint.
4. soak bolts in mineral turpentine to clean, if you can reuse use them.
5. measure lengths of slats work out how many metres you need, go to Bunnings pick your timber. I got them to cut to size as they needed to be uniform. If not use a mitre box to cut evenly.
6. stain the timber making sure you cover the cut ends.
7. Place in the garden and enjoy.
