The project:
We decided to turn the downstairs into a cozy home theatre with a candy bar and drinks station. The area is very large and has a toilet for easy access also. Painting the entire area black was daunting but the atmosphere it created was perfect!!
- Materials:
dulux black ace interior paint. SpecRite timber panels, black brackets, LG smart projector, 4K theatre screen, wall mount for projector, plaster board, lights, frames, rods and blackout curtains, speakers, black power points and light switches, black down lights, wall lights
- Tools:
paint rollers, cutting brushes, hole patches, drop saw, circular saw, drill, spirit level, wire cutters, yellow tongue, screw driver, terminal screwdriver, stud finder, hole saw, sanding blocks, jigsaw, plaster saw, hammer, ladder, blood sweat and tears lol
- Step 1:
Position where projector will sit on roof and feed power through roof.
wash down all walls patch any holes and remove all power points, down lights, light switches. Frame out bulk head and attach plaster boards.
- Step 2:
cut in all walls with cutting brush ready to roll on paint
- Step 3:
roll on first coat of black paint to walls and ceiling!!!
- Step 4:
cut to size the timber shelves for the candy and drinks station. Attach with brackets. We added a drinks trolley, wine fridge and retro drinks fridge.
- Step 5:
we printed out our favourite movie posters at office works and framed them to create the full classic theatre room vibe
- Step 6:
we added black out curtains the entry which also helped black out the room as no door was at the bottom of the stairs.
we added wall lights near the toilet entry
- Step 7:
we added a little seating nook near the drinks station to suit the moody room feel
- Step 8:
Netflix and chill 🥰
