Former church renovation to modern country home

The project:

We purchased 3 months ago and wanted to make it feel modern country. It was built with an all timber look and felt dark and very 80's. We wanted a bright open space that's simple but still feeling like it has some original characteristics like floors and beams.

- Materials:

2.4m wall panelling, skirt boards, trims, dulux paint, doors, l rugs all from Bunnings. No gaps, sanding pads, paint brushes and rollers.

- Tools:

All Ryobi - nail gun, jig saw, circular saw, renovator, sander, drill, grinder. Hammer, chisel,

- Step 1:

re panelled the 6 meter high walls with 2.4 meter paneling.

- Step 2:

added trim to joins and any walk ways. Also added skirt.

- Step 3:

filled any holes and nail holes and sanded back.

- Step 4:

painted walls and ceilings with dulux white on white

- Step 5:

styled the room after a deep clean.

What an excellent upgrade to the timber finished room! The bright coloured paint has made the room even visually bigger and has given it a nice upgrade while keeping all the timber characteristics intact. The addition of a light-coloured rug and the dinner table have made the space more functional. Colouring some of the timber frame doors in black has provided excellent contrast to the walls. An overall excellent effort in changing the personality of the room.
