The project:
custom built cubby house I made for the Grandchildren. The walls were made using treated pine fence pailings, the floor plywood, the base treated pine from Bunnings Mascot. The paint was also from Bunnings from previous projects. Hinges glue and handles from Bunnings Mascot. The roof was made from reclaimed weather boards- all joins sealed with Sally’s no more gaps, from…. Bunnings Mascot!
Installed yesterday to squeals of delight- one of the most rewarding projects I have ever made. Sometimes making something for love, for people you love, is the most joyous thing!xxx
- Materials:
treated pine fence pailings, treated pine 100mm x100mm, treated pine 70x 35mm,pine plywood 15mm, Dulux wash and wear , lane 59x40 x1.2 butt hinges, Shelly’s no more gaps, brass no.3.
- Tools:
hitachi drop saw, makita 18v screwing, and drill, makita 18 trimmer router, hammer(earring), chisels, drill bits, drivers, rat tail brushes, rollers and tray, hand saw, elbow grease.
- Step 1:
assessed site and took rough measurements. Built side walls with fence pailings and 40x40 pine. Cut barn windows and fitted hinges.
Made gable end panels, cut door and fitted hinges, made secret trap door.
Made base frame, and cut housing joints for upright legs, bolted with zenith 10g x 75mn csk screws.
Made ply floor,cut trapdoor, fitted hinges.
Assembled four walks, made roof panels.
Sanded and painted all.
Disassembled and took to site
Put together and enjoyed the play!
