Kitchen makeover with new window

The project:

House was built in a hurry to be a rental, so lots of cut corners and poor quality. We replaced the window, switched out the water damaged architraves for tile, retiled poorly done tiled wall, painted and upgraded appliances.

Paint brush and roller

Plaster trowel

- Step 1:

• Window replaced (the only part done by a contractor) and architraves removed.

- Step 2:

Tiles removed and plasterboard/concrete sheeting replaced

- Step 3:

Area around sink waterproofed and wall above tiles plastered.

- Step 4:

Wall tiles adhered, then grouted. Gap filler applied

- Step 5:

Plaster above tiles primed and painted

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

You’ve done a great job correcting the original shortcuts and giving the kitchen a much cleaner, more durable finish. Replacing the damaged wall materials, waterproofing around the sink and retiling the splashback were all important improvements, and the tiled window surround is a practical alternative to timber architraves in a wet area.

The fresh paint and upgraded appliances finish the space off nicely. I love the red oven by the way, it's a real focal point.
