The project:

Transformed sand patch into native garden with paths, plants, pergola grass and gates.

- Materials:

Wooden poles

Screws, nails, varnish, paint, plants, fertilizer, slabs, concrete, stakes, reticulation pipes, taps,

- Tools:

Hammer, drill, screws, shovels, wheelbarrow, ladders, paintbrushes, sandpaper, leveller, elbow grease, spirit level.

- Step 1:

Built the pergola.

Laid the slabs.

Put up the fences and gates.

Planted natives.

Put down grass.

Spread woodships.

Laid the paths.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for sharing your project.

You've done a fantastic job turning your bare backyard into a well landscaped, native garden with a fantastic hardwood pergola.

I love the way you've used the red toned timber alongside rebar which will naturally rust and bring on a red patina. The slightly industrial aesthetic is a big winner for me. I imagine once the plants grow in properly, it will look even better.

Alongside this, the paths, garden beds and fresh turf look fantastic.

Out of curiosity, on the white picket fence, what's the reason for having a few of the pickets raised? Is that perhaps where the reticulation pipes run?

All in all, this is a really fantastic project. Congratulations on a job well done.

Hi Jacob, thanks for your appreciation of our renovation. It certainly was alot of hard work and so nice to have your positive review. We also like the Rebar fence which will have an ornamental grapevine climbing up it come spring. The raised pickets on the white picket fence is just because my husband likes the non linear look. We also gave it a small touch of Japanese with the Tori gate with a dark stain.
