1970s kitchen renovation using Kaboodle

The project:

Removed an old pine kitchen from the 1970's,replaced with kaboodle cupboads, centralised the island bench,selected the unpainted heritage doors painted in a Taubmans waterbased enamel paint, tops are brown acaia timber varnished with Taubmans benchtop varnish. Paneling on the center island is VJ board that has been glued and pinned to MDF board.Flooring is the smart home arcadia hybrid waterproof vinyl planks.I have never built before and this was my first major renovation.

- Materials:

Kaboodle cupboards and unpainted doors

Taubmans paint waterbased enamel paint and benchtop varnish

- Tools:

Ryobi drill and impact driver

Ryobi circular saw

Ozito nail gun

Ozito table saw

Stanley levels

Trojan chisels

Stanley screw drivers

Ryobi router

- Step 1:

Fully removed old pine kitchen

Removed old floorinremive old tiles

Built the kaboodle cupboard and positoned

Level cupboads

Paint the kaboodle doors

Replace plaster

Make the side and backing for the center island with MDF and VJ board

Layed the flooring

Fit the doors to the cupboards

Fit bench tops varnished

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

What an outstanding result for your first major renovation. Replacing the original 1970s kitchen with Kaboodle cabinetry, a centred island and timber benchtops has surely transformed the space. The painted heritage doors, VJ detailing and warm acacia tops work especially well together, and the new flooring ties everything in beautifully.

You should be very proud of taking on such a large project with no previous building experience. There is a lot involved in a reno like this.

It would also be great to see any before and progress photos you may have. They would really help tell the story of the renovation and show just how much work went into achieving this impressive result.
