Red brick walls modernised with paint

The project:

We rendered the front facade of our house but could not afford to do the sides and back. As our house bricks were dated and didn’t match the render at all, we needed an option that would hide the bricks but modernise the house. We decided that the best, cheapest and most effective option would be to paint the bricks in the same colour as the render. I managed to do most of the painting myself, with the occasional help from my husband and the kids, and I am absolutely thrilled with the result!

- Materials:

Dulux low sheen Weathershield exterior paint - tinted Dune

- Tools:

Brush from dustpan set

Tub for paint

Silicone paint brushes (medium and small)

- Step 1:

I brushed the bricks to remove dust and cobwebs

- Step 2:

Applied 3 coats of Dulux weathershield paint

Great work, especially completing most of the painting yourself. The brickwork looks fresh and modern, will surely tie in nicely with the rendered facade, and should provide a durable finish for years to come.
