Upcycle Pine dresser into bathroom vanity

The project:

Due to a wait time with cabinetmakers of over 12 months, I decided to upcycle a dresser into a bathroom vanity. I purchased the dresser from our local Tender Centre. I removed the mirror, feet and bottom drawers and used the top for the open shelves were the bottom drawers were. After it was installed I replaced the handles , painted the dresser in Dulux Chalk Paint Sage Green and sealed with Rustoleum Clear Coat. Finally when the basin and waste were installed I modified the drawers to make use of available space.

- Materials:

Dulux chalk paint - pale sage

Rusteloum clear coat

Handles and knobs

Masking tape

- Tools:

Foam roller and paintbrush

Rocket hand sander

Electric drill

Multitool

- Step 1:

Removed mirror, bottom drawers, legs and timber top.

- Step 2:

Builder installed dresser after plumbing rough in.

- Step 3:

Vanity top and basin installed and undercoat applied. Timber top modified and installed in place of bottom drawers.

- Step 4:

Holes for new handles and knobs predrilled and then drawers painted and sealed.

- Step 5:

Drawers modified to accomodate basin and plumbing underbench.

- Step 6:

Dresser carcass painted and sealed.

What a clever and beautifully finished upcycle, @kelleeh. The dresser has been given a completely new life, and the sage green paint, updated handles and vanity top suit the bathroom perfectly.

Modifying the drawers around the basin and plumbing was a particularly practical touch, as it allowed you to retain useful storage while achieving the look of a custom vanity.
