Easy build dining table with metal legs

The project:

A solid wood Hevea table top with black metal ‘U’ legs. To strengthen the table top and give it a more solid look I added an under base from MDF.

- Materials:

I purchased two Hevea panels
1200 x 405 x 18mm

MDF base board

Black ‘U’ metal legs: heavy metal brackets

screws, hard wax, clear coat

- Tools:

All my battery tools are OZITO

I use 3 drills: to drill, screw counter sink.

Makes it easier not having to change BITS

Wood glue, sand paper,

- Step 1:

I drilled 4 dowel holes along each panel, glued and clamped together to make an 800width table top. Glued the MDF to the underside to strengthen the table. Attached the metal legs and added heavy gage metal brackets for extra support. Sanded with 180 and used a clear coat and hard wax finish.

The Hevea panel looks fantastic after a good sand and some hard wax, and the join is very well done. With the addition of the MDF base panel and those quality metal legs, you've produced what I'm sure is a very sturdy and practical dining table.
