Guest bathroom DIY facelift using paint

The project:

Rather than undertaking a full bathroom renovation, we gave our outdated guest bathroom a cost-effective facelift. The original space had ageing fixtures and wall tiles that were starting to fall off, so we painted all the tiles, installed new tapware, a new vanity, and a new mirror to completely refresh the room. The result is a modern, welcoming bathroom that looks and feels brand new without the expense of a full renovation. We wanted to create a space that our family and friends would genuinely enjoy using, and we're thrilled with the transformation.

- Step 1:

To achieve a stunning transformation without the cost of a full renovation, we began by thoroughly cleaning the bathroom and replacing any loose wall tiles. Both the wall and floor tiles were carefully sanded, primed, painted, and sealed with a durable clear topcoat for a long-lasting finish. The old sink was removed and replaced with a stylish new vanity, complemented by all new tapware and a new mirror. To complete the look, we transformed the existing chrome towel rail, shower curtain rail, and toilet roll holder to a modern gold finish using Rub 'n Buff. The result is a fresh, contemporary bathroom that feels completely renewed while making the most of the existing space.

What a lovely transformation. The bathroom now feels so much lighter, brighter and more welcoming, and the white tile finish has made the whole space look fresh and modern. The new vanity, mirror and tapware work beautifully together, while the gold details add warmth and give the room a more polished, coordinated look.

It is also a great example of how much can be achieved without committing to a full renovation. Repairing and refinishing the existing tiles, then updating the key fixtures, has completely changed the feel of the space while keeping the project cost-effective.
