How to level pitched ceiling for gyprocking?

Question

I am insulating and lining my steel shed and after advice on how to best level the ceiling so I can gyprock it.

The gable ceiling has 3 C Channels running across it. Two of these C Channels are the same size, but the one that attaches to the wall and roof is flipped the other way around meaning it is 40mm skinnier than the other two. This leaves the top hat batten floating on that end (see photo).

How do I bridge this gap so the top hats can be fixed to all three c channels and be completely level for my gyprock sheets to attach to?

Can I use a 40mm timber trip? Steel “L” brackets? Something else?

I’m currently using 22mm (0.42BMT) topspan battens and have 10mm gyprock sheets.

Hi @MidLife231,

I've spoken with the technical team at Lysaght who've unfortunately informed me that they do not have a prefabricated solution and are unable to provide guidance in this situation. They would recommend you speak with manufacturer of the shed as they are the best placed to provide guidance as they would have carried out the engineering and testing of this shed.

They often have structural brackets designed for connections like this which comply with the engineering requirements of the shed.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Any time you are dealing with a product, like ceiling battens, that needs to be able to carry a load, it is best to review the installation manual or speak with the manufacturer for their guidance. As the Topspan Design and Installation Guide doesn't address this specific situation, we'll have to reach out to Lysaght for their guidance when they reopen tomorrow.

I am aware of and have used solutions with other steel framing systems, however I'd like to check with Lysaght to ensure it is suitable for their system before making any recommendations.
