How to extend wall for sliding doors on Euro laundry?

Question

As I’ll be installing sliding doors on my new European laundry, I need to extend the side wall forward by 12 cm to provide space for the door tracks. This wall is 10cm wide.

initially I had thought I could just attach a timber post - but the only size close to what I need is only 900mm x 900mm - so just a couple of cm short.

(I’ll also need to extend the top lintel)

Any ideas how I can do this? I really don’t want to have to build out the frame & attach plasterboard if I can avoid it.

@R4addZ I wish I’d thought of this before I started! A barn door or wall hung door would have been the easiest solution.

Hi @Scootergirl

I'm assuming the 120 is the width of the door track, it seems to me though you have clearance from the trough and I am assuming the washing machine. So thinking laterally, have you considered switching to a barn style door instead?

Edited to add I believe they are called bypass barn doors where you can slide both ways eg, under and over.
