Kaboodle kitchen for granny flat

The project:

About 5 years ago we decided to downsize and elected to build a granny flat on the side of a large shed on our daughter and son-in-law's property. As we were starting from scratch and had to work under the size restrictions imposed for a granny flat, it was important to keep the kitchen to as small a size as practical. We visited Bunnings many times to determine what would work for us, and after much planning and help from the Bunnings team, we ordered a flat-pack Kaboodle kitchen.

Electric screwdriver and laser-level.

- Step 1:

Measuring and planning. Assembling of base boxes and fitting to kitchen. Adding shelves and doors.

Hi @Jilloyd,

You've done a fantastic job creating a bright and functional kitchen within the space constraints of a granny flat. Careful planning really pays off with projects like this, and it's great to hear the Kaboodle range helped you achieve exactly what you were after.

My good Lady sent some more photos yesterday but said nothing of the planning so thought I could add a little more to the story.

As we were starting from scratch ie a new Granny flat on the side of a large shed, we were able to plan it all from start.

Knowing the size restates that we were faced with, we were able to start with a new floor plan and work from there.

Using the Bunnings/Kaboodle planning map, we were able to work out what we could fit in and what had to go. As it was we ended up with everything we were after and actually added some extra features that were not in the brochures, naughty but nice. I spun 2 base cabinets around so that we could access the very back corners of the corner cabinets with ease. It did not take too much effort to make the change and added new doors on the front of the cabinets to make it all work.

I must add that we also used chalk to mark out the proposed kitchen before finally ordering the flat packs then got them home and Bingo, it all worked out to the millimetre.
