The project:

With rising damp and older design of skirtings, curtains we wanted a change. Transforming our second lounge room into our dream cinema room installed a fireplace, changed tiles over, added cladding, down-lights, electric blinds, a $20 blind as our screen and projector.

Tile glue

Grey grout

Timber for framing fireplace

Fireplace 900mm - Scandia

VJ panels 3.5m

1500mm white roller curtain (our projector screen, lol thanks Bunnings)

Plaster sheets

Downlights

Skirting 100mm

- Tools:

EVERYTHING MAKITA

- Step 1:

Removed all old tiles with jackhammer, grind back glue (make sure you use respirator)

- Step 2:

Primed floors with waterproofing seal

- Step 3:

Glued tiles down

- Step 4:

Created frame for fireplace to sit in

- Step 5:

Install fireplace

What a fantastic transformation! This space has been beautifully reimagined into a stylish and inviting cinema room that looks both elegant and incredibly comfortable. The fireplace creates a stunning focal point, while the large-format tiles, wall cladding, downlights and electric blinds all come together to give the room a polished, contemporary feel. I especially love the clever use of the $20 blind as a projector screen, it’s a brilliant example of creative DIY thinking. This is a wonderful space for relaxing with family and friends, and one that will no doubt provide countless memorable movie nights.
