Front entrance pond with tropical plants

The project:

We transformed our plain front entrance into a tropical water garden using products sourced from Bunnings, including a 1200mm Aqua Pond, Decor8 feature tiles, plants and landscaping materials. We travelled 130km to our nearest Bunnings to source everything we needed. With a little inspiration from Bunnings and plenty of hard work, we created a peaceful oasis we are incredibly proud of. As two ladies who love DIY, this project proves that creativity and determination can transform any space. Thank you, Bunnings, for helping us complete our project.

- Step 1:

Purchased the materials from Bunnings. Then made a frame for the pond to sit in.

- Step 2:

Sheeted the frame with cement sheeting and covered in waterproofing to seal.

- Step 3:

Cut the stone panels to fit and attached to cement sheeting using liquid nails. Added timber trim to top edge. Supported the plastic tub with bessa blocks underneath.

- Step 4:

Filled with river sand, water plants, guppies and solar water fountain.

- Step 5:

Added more plants including two hanging ferns and a welcome sign. Installed microspray irrigation and Holman tap timer. The project is now complete.
