The project:
We had a very plain uninviting outdoor area with no shade and dated primrose cream painted window and gutters. We wanted to create an outdoor living space that we can enjoy all year round. I painted the gutters in Monument and spray painted the doors with the Dulux spray cans in monument as well. We had a pergola and decking built and hand painted the whole lot. We also painted the stone table to match in as it was a cream colour. We added furniture and plants to blend it all in for an inviting outdoor living space.
- Materials:
Different sandpaper grades, painters tape, duct tape, drop sheets, pretaped masking paper, paint brushes all sizes, paint trays and paint pots and a glass scraper.
Dulux paint in both the Weather Sheild and spray cans in monument and Vivid White for the pot plants. Festoon lighting and plants.
- Tools:
Ryobi drill, heat gun, paint mixer, ladders, drop sheets, masking film and paper dispenser, silicon and caulking with gun, terps, paint rollers and brushes.
- Step 1:
Wiped down all gutters and facia boards and painted
Lightly sanded paint on all the doors and windows to take off the shine
Removed sliding doors and spray painted them out the back on a table
Taped up all around the windows and doors to protect the bricks from over spray
Did 2 coats on each one
Cleaned pots and spray painted them
Hand painted table and Deck chair with a med roller
Purchased potting mix and plants
Painted secondhand coffee tables in vivid white to match
Decorated the area
It took about 2 months from start to finish as we could only do it on weekends and pending weather and when the builders finished off the pergola so we could paint it.
