The project:

Beautifully recycled and refurbished cast iron and jarrah garden bench. Old cast iron ends, cleaned, wire brushed and re painted.

Recycled 22mm jarrah floorboards. stripped and sanded and varnished.

- Materials:

Recycled Jarrah floorboards

Recycled Cast iron ends

Zenith galvanised 6 x 40mm Cup head bolts

Macsim 20 mm stitching screws

Bondall Monecel Gold marine grade Exterior clear varnish

- Tools:

Ryobi +One cordless tools. Grinder, drill, circular saw.

Paint brushes, spray cans

- Step 1:

cut floorboards to width

putty holes

sand boards and varnish

wire brush bench ends and paint

measure and drill slats

put all components together

1 x garden bench complete

What a great way to give these old materials a new lease on life. The combination of the refurbished cast iron ends and recycled Jarrah has produced a beautiful bench that I'm sure will provide many more years of use.

Do you happen to have any before photos or progress shots from the restoration? I'm sure other members would enjoy seeing how the bench looked before you started and the work that went into bringing it back to life.
