The project:

Utilisation of floor board off cuts to make a hardwood entertainment drawer unit. Difficult to buy and very expensive to get anything like this. Very satisfying to design and build!

- Materials:

Offcuts of floor boards.
hardwood framing
Pine framing

Pine drawer timbers

Drawer sliders

Cabothane satin varnish

Dowels, glue, screws etc all from local Sunbury Bunnings

- Tools:

dowel jig

Drop saw

Circular saw

Cordless drill

Electric plane

Orbital sander

Hand tools

- Step 1:

Assembled top section

Assembled all framing units

Built drawer units

Assembled and varnished

What a fantastic piece of craftsmanship! It's hard to believe this beautiful entertainment unit started as floorboard offcuts. The combination of contrasting timber tones, clean lines and elegant brass handles gives it a timeless look that would suit almost any home. The generous storage and thoughtful design make it every bit as practical as it is stylish, and it's especially satisfying knowing it was designed and built by hand. It's a wonderful example of creativity, skill and making the most of quality materials.
