Concrete step down coffee table

The project:

This project is a bespoke piece of furniture gifted as an engagement present to some friends of mine, the idea came about as I noticed there old coffee table looked worn out. This inspired me to undertake the project. I created a vision and began to execute it, I also adopted the “step down” look from the old table.

Mag float

Wood float

Makita hammer drill

Green plugs

Stainless steel screws

All from Bunnings!!

- Step 1:

Created form work, I created the main shape and built my form work around this. I then added steel, utilising off cuts and scrap where possible. I also added custom brass to the tops as pictured.

- Step 2:

Poured concrete, screed and troweled off, left to set

- Step 3:

Polish, bog, sand, seal, add packers as legs to create shadow line.

- Step 4:

Install and add finishing touches
