Kitchen upgrade changing cupboards to drawers

The project:

replaced old oven with new wall mount, added built in microwave, replaced 60cm gas cooktop with new 70cm 5 burner unit. Converted all cupboards to drawers using cupboard doors as drawer fronts.

- Materials:

used edged melamine shelving 2400x295 to make drawers & Goliath 450mm soft close drawer slides for drawers

- Tools:

Second hand Triton Mk3 work enter with home made extension

Craftright 1250mm clamp & cutting guide

Air Brad gun, Makita 18v driver already owned

- Step 1:

remove cupboard doors & hinges, removed shelves & pins

Removed old oven, made a packing piece to allow clearance to dishwasher for new drawers

Removed, modified & refitted pantry carcass to accept wall oven & microwave, shortened top pantry doors

Made individual drawers & fitted to drawer slides

Cut original doors to use as drawer fronts with iron on edging, repositioned handles

What a clever kitchen upgrade. Converting the cupboards to drawers using the original doors as drawer fronts is a fantastic way to give the kitchen a more modern and practical layout without replacing all the cabinetry. The new wall oven, microwave and larger cooktop really complete the transformation.
