Upcycled bird cage for garden plant stand

The project:

For my latest project, I decided to renovate a bird cage. It's a great addition to the garden, holding a few plants of its own while providing shade for others. I wanted something bright and eye-catching, so I chose a vibrant red paint. 

- Materials:

- Tools:

I used a Ryobi drill with a wire brush set to sand the cage, and a standard paintbrush to apply all the coats.

- Step 1:

1. After sanding I made a coat of converter.

2. I applied a coat of primer.

- Step 3:

3. I covered with flame red paint few times.

- Step 4:

4. I've placed grass inside so it can trail out of the cage, while ivy will form the crown of the composition, blanketing it in colourful leaves. Beneath the cage, shade-loving plants will thrive in the cozy, sheltered space. I am going to add succulents inside the cage for more fun.

What a fantastic way to give an old bird cage a new lease on life. The vibrant red finish really makes it a standout feature in the garden, and I love your vision of having ivy drape over the top while the trailing plants spill out of the cage. It will only become more striking as everything grows in.

Thanks also for taking us through each stage of the restoration. It's great to see how you tackled the rust, primed the surface and built up the finish with several coats of paint to achieve such a bold result.
