The project:
Our Dining table was looking a bit tired and worn, so we decided to give it a face lift by mosaicking the top and then pouring resin over to give a smooth and even surface

- Step 1:
We sanded the table to remove the varnish and to provide a rough surface for the glue to bond to.
- Step 2:
We created a pattern on the table that represents the Tree of Life. For the trunk of the tree we routed out 2 grooves and several branches with a router and a square cutting bit to a depth of approximately 25mm. we then mixed a deep pour resin with black colouring and poured that into the routed groove.
- Step 3:
Once resin had set, we then mosaicked the tree with various tiles, in different materials to represent different areas of the tree. Birds, leaves, grass, flowers and sky.
- Step 4:
Once the mosaicking was complete, we set up the edges so that the resin wouldn't overflow. we then poured several coats of clear resin to create a smooth and even surface.
