The project:

Needed a new chicken coop as old was leaking and falling down. Brought a automatic door chicken and designed coop around the scale of auto chicken door. Repurposed materials from old coop where possible. Had bricks already and purchased remaining.

Wanted to build a coop that would out last us, be as easy as possible to clean and safe for the chickens from foxes.

Once the original concept was drawn the coop keep evolving from our friends input.

- Materials:

Bricks, sand, cement

corrugated roofing, tec screws, insulation, sisel paper.

cement sheet, wet plaster, cement sheet weather boards, timber, nails and screws

floor tiles, glue and grout

outdoor pavers plants and herbs

wire mesh for windows

screen doors, door latches, automatic chicken door

- Tools:

wheel barrow, shovel, trowel, raker, spatulas, circular saw, planer, sander, hand saw, hammer, pliers, angle grinder, drill, paint brush, roller, level, measure tape

- Step 1:

Design and scale

lay bricks

build frame

install doors

roof and insulation

weather boards

internal cement sheets and plaster

lay tiles

paint and fitout

Hi @Fishers,

Your chickens are certainly living in style now. This looks more like a little mansion than a coop to me. The brick structure, insulated roof, tiled floor and automatic door should make it incredibly homely for your chickens and easy to manage for yourself.

It’s also great to see so many materials from the old coop reused, with the landscaping and planting finishing the whole area off nicely.
