TV unit feature wall with crazy paving and VJ

The project:

we made our on tv unit, I was struggling to find something big enough to place in this space so we created our own

- Materials:

VJ paneling, paint, no gaps, gyprock, wooden frame, blueboard, travertine pavers, grout

- Step 1:

First we added VJ paneling on the wall behind the tv and I painted it white

- Step 2:

next my partner built the frame to fit in the space, then covered it in blueboard

- Step 3:

To do the top I covered it in wet gyprock, just placed it over and made a textured pattern then I painted that white

- Step 4:

I then got to work on the bottom, I layed out the pavers and started to stick them up, once done I grouted them all

This is such a clever way to make the most of a large wall. Rather than settling for a TV unit that did not quite fit the space, you and your partner created something completely tailored to the room.

The mix of VJ panelling textured white finishes and travertine crazy paving gives the feature wall a really distinctive look. The stonework along the base adds plenty of warmth and texture, while the lighter finishes keep the overall design feeling balanced.

You have created a striking focal point for the room, and it is a great example of how a custom build can solve both a practical and design challenge.
