The project:
This custom letterbox and house number display entirely was DIY project. From constructing the blockwork structure to installing the letterbox and creating the large “65” house number, every step was a DIY project. The bold, modern design makes the house number highly visible while giving the front of the home a unique and durable finish. It was a rewarding project that combined practical building skills with creativity, resulting in a functional and eye-catching entrance feature.

- Step 1:
- Created the house number 65 using a mould and prepared it for installation.
- Constructed a formwork (box) and poured concrete to cast the house number.
- Allowed the concrete to cure completely before removing it from the mould and preparing it for outdoor installation.
- Built the letterbox post by laying bricks with mortar to the required height and dimensions.
- Formed the brick structure to fit the letterbox and securely positioned the letterbox within the post.
- Installed the concrete house number 65, ensuring it was firmly bonded and correctly aligned with the brickwork.
- Verified that the letterbox, brickwork, and house number were level, plumb, and securely fixed.
- Installed the Rondo 2400mm 90° External Corner Bead on all external corners before rendering.
- Applied the render evenly over the brickwork, allowed it to partially set, and completed the finishing to achieve a smooth, consistent surface.
- Allowed the rendered letterbox to cure for 1–2 days, then applied Dulux 10L Texture Full Cover Exterior Paint to complete the project.
