Granny flat converted from double garage

The project:

I moved into my daughters house and converted a 2 car garage into my granny flat

- Materials:

90 x 35 blue timber,VJ board, laminated flooring, used corrugated roofing iron, skirting boards, architraves, R2.5 wall installation, R6 ceiling insulation, tiles, kaboodle kitchen, paint.

- Tools:

Paslode framing and fix out guns, drills, tile cutter, grinder, hammer,onto hammer drill, concrete floor grinder, ozito paddle mixer

- Step 1:

1. Completely gerni and acid washed the garage floors and walls

2. Measured and marked frames

3. Plumbed and squared the framework.

4. Used self levelling compound to levelling the floor.

5. Cut and built the frames and secured them in to the floor and existing garage frame.

6. Installed all ceiling and wall insulation.

7. Layed the vinyl strip flooring

8. Installed VJ board and corrugated iron.

9. Met with kitchen expert from Gregory Hills Bunnings and designed the kaboodle kitchen then Installed..

10. Then purchased all the furnishings.

This is a substantial transformation, and you have created a very comfortable and practical granny flat from what was once a standard double garage.

The VJ panelling, corrugated iron feature walls and timber-look flooring give the space plenty of character, while the insulation and Kaboodle kitchen help make it feel like a complete home rather than a converted garage.

Nice work taking the project from the initial framing and floor preparation right through to the finished fit-out. I'm sure it is comfortable, cozy and feels like home.
