Sunflower cubby house with awning

The project:

I bought the cubby from bunnings and put it together for my grand daughter for xmas. I then painted it in a sun flower design and added an awning over the seat.

My grand daughter loves it.

- Materials:

Cubby house

Brush fencing for the roof

Paint

Material for curtains

Foam and sunflowers

Extra wood for the awning

Material for the awning and cushion

- Tools:

Brushes

Staple gun for the awning and brush fencing

- Step 1:

Put together the cubby as per instructions

- Step 2:

Painted the cubby house in yellow and then white trim

- Step 3:

Made awning with wood offcuts and stapled canvas to the top

- Step 4:

Stapled brush fencing to the roof

- Step 5:

Made cushion and curtains

- Step 6:

Added initial M to the door and decorated with flowers and metal bees and butterflies

- Step 7:

Hubby (papa) 'posts' chocolate frogs in the letter box for our grand daughter.

You've done a beautiful job personalising the cubby house. The sunflower theme is so cheerful, and all the extra touches like the awning, curtains, flowers and brush fencing really make it feel like a special little retreat. I'm sure your granddaughter loves finding the chocolate frogs that Papa posts through the letterbox too.

If you have any photos from before you started painting and adding the custom features, we'd love to see them so members can appreciate the transformation. I'm sure other members with the same cubby house would be interested in adding something similar to their own.
