The project:
We just moved into a new house and the plain white walls didn't suit us at all. Some fun coloured stripes brighten it up and makes it feel like home.
- Materials:
Paint, painters tape
- Tools:
Cross line laser level, tripod, stanley knife, paint brushes, paint rollers, ruler
- Step 1:
First up was taping the lines. I used the laser level to make sure the tape was straight. I measured 15cm for each stripe, and one tape width between each stripe.
- Step 2:
To make sure the paint lines are super crisp, I pressed down all the tape lines. Any solid card would work but I used the scraper applicator that comes with a tub of spakle. Then I painted over every edge of the tape lines with the white wall paint. This way if any paint was going to bleed under the tape it would be the wall colour.
- Step 3:
Time to paint the colours! Beware - at this step you hate how it looks, question all your choices and consider that moving back out might be the easiest way out of this mess. This is a real "trust the process" moment.
- Step 4:
Peeling the tape. Thank goodness I like the end result!
