Refinished timber sideboard buffet

The project:

I transformed a dated timber buffet into a modern statement piece using paint, careful preparation, and attention to detail. The original orange timber finish was updated with a sleek matte black body while preserving the beautiful timber top for warmth and contrast. I refinished the hardware, refreshed every surface, and styled the piece to show its full potential. This project proves that with creativity, patience, and DIY skills, an old piece of furniture can be completely reinvented into a stylish, high-end feature for the home.

- Materials:

Ryobi orbital sander

Feast and Watson Prooftint in Japan Brown

- Step 1:

1. Emptied entire unit
2. Gave it a very good clean and vacuumed
3. Took all the doors of
4. Removed all the metal decals
5. Sanded the top and wine rack back to original wood including the shelves inside buffet.
6. Scuff sanded the rest of the body of the buffet
7. Spray painted metal decals.
8. applied undercoat to body of buffet
9. Applied top coat and then applied prooftint to top, shelves and wine rack. Finished with a clear seal and added wallpaper to drawers and inside buffet.
