The project:

The KOOKABURRA door!!!…. Was a must have.

After purchasing my first property, myself (train driver 29) and my dad (garbo 57) decided between the two of us and some help from family and friends and our local BUNNINGS (Epping).

We could really do the place up nice. We have repainted the house and kitchen cabinets, extended the veranda, added a deck and new range hood, built a work bench and shed, cut down trees, added fence extensions, laundry cupboards, doggy doors, replaced doors and handles, light fittings and outlet caps, all with materials from BUNNINGS.

- Step 1:

To redo the kitchen all cabinet doors had to be taken off and sanded back and patched up. Before using Dulux renovation range cabinet doors with 4mm roller which took about 5 coats then finished with a clear coat and new handles

- Step 2:

Extending the veranda and adding decking. Involved taking out the old posts and replacing them with a solid beam across to support the extension.

The decking included building the frame with waterproofing tar then adding merbau decking and using Cabot’s deck stain for finish

- Step 3:

You've achieved an incredible transformation, and it's made even more impressive knowing it was completed by you, your dad and the support of family and friends. From the kitchen makeover and verandah extension to the new deck, doors and all the finishing touches, you've really turned your first house into a home.

The progress photos do a great job of showing just how much work has gone into the renovation. I have to agree too, the Kookaburra door is a real standout and gives the front of the house plenty of character.

Thank you mate, haha yeah I still of course went and looked at a couple door places and none of them came close to the kookaburra door!!

It’s been a lot of work but also a lot of fun couple of barbies sprinkled in haha
