The project:
I was gifted a timber table. To modernise it and try to make it weather resistant I sanded it and painted it in outdoor paint and taught myself to mosaic the top. I bought all the materials from Bunnings. It has brightened our outdoor entertaining area and acts as a conversation piece as well as being a great place to sit with family and enjoy an outdoor meal.
- Materials:
Deluxe weather shield exterior paint - monument
Decor8 tiles -penny ceramic in white & black 310 x315 x5mm
Johnson tiles 97 x97mm spectrum wall tile in gloss black, light blue, green, yellow , orange, red, white, dark blue
Boyle Australia adhesive pva glue 225ml
Davco easy grout 2L in black
- Tools:
sandpaper- rocket standard sanding sheets
Paintbrush-paint partner 38 & 50mm brush set
Hammer- craft right 20oz solid claw hammer
Morgan- jumbo sponge
Gloves- Sabco professional chemical resistant
- Step 1:
sanded the table and cleaned it
- Step 2:
painted the table legs and sides
- Step 3:
Broke the tiles using a hammer and separated them by colour in to containers
- Step 4:
Glued the edging tiles in to place around perimeter of table
- Step 5:
Glued the tiles in to position on table top making circular patterns. I didn’t have a plan , I just did what came to mind. Left table to dry for 2weeks
- Step 6:
Grouted the table top.
