Backyard office DIY build

The project:

I built an outdoor office on an existing deck. Used all products from Bunnings.

Took a few months.

Not bad DIY for an Accountant.

- Materials:

All from Bunnings.

Used structural pine, James Hardie Oblique Cladding, Earthwool Insulation, Ametalin VapourTech brane, Supaceil Plasterboard, Blackbutt Floor Select Flooring, Hume Entrance Door.

- Tools:

Ryobi Framing Nailer, Ryobi Brad Nailer, Makita Drill, Makita Impact Driver, Ryoni circular saw, Ryobi Multitool, Stanley FatMax tape measure, Stanley Level, Microsoft Excel.

- Step 1:

Framed up the space using 140mm x 45mm and 90mm x 45mm Structural Pine.

- Step 2:

Wrapped the lot with a Vapour Wrap Membrane

- Step 3:

Installed Windows and James Hardie Oblique Cladding.

- Step 4:

Had licenced electrician install wiring for lights and power points.

Fully insulated with Earthwool Insulation.

Installed internal sheeting, James Hardie Oblique Cladding.

Installed Hume External door.

- Step 5:

Installed skylight and ceiling (with mullions as I a rubbish with plasterboard)

- Step 6:

Installed sub floor and floor with Blackbutt Floor Select Flooring.

- Step 7:

Paint and now ready for furniture

Not bad DIY for an accountant? I'd say you've set the bar pretty high! The finished office looks fantastic, and the skylight is a brilliant addition that really brightens the space.

Thanks for documenting the build from start to finish. I'm sure it will inspire plenty of members who are thinking about adding a backyard office of their own.
