The project:
DIY wooden hanger. This can act as a decorative wall piece when not used. Great for entryways for hanging frequently used items.
- Materials:

- Any saw
- Drill and drill bit one size larger than the diameter of your tube/rod
- Sandpaper
- Step 1:
Cut your wood to size. I used the width of my DAR so my pieces were square.
You can square them up or shuffle them around like I did. If you decide to vary the design, draw two lines to define where the backing board shall sit. Ensure all the ‘hanger’ bars are high enough on the rod to flip down.
- Step 2:
Using a drill bit the size of your rod, drill holes into the bottom of each piece ensuring they line up. This will be for the rod. Slide the rod in to ensure everything lines up and test your hanger pieces can flip down
- Step 3:
Take everything apart, sand your pieces and stain/apply finishing coats as required.
- Step 4:
Attach your backing plate and hang up on the wall.
