The project:
The project was to upgrade the laundry from washing machine with dryer on top in the left corner and a steel wash tub next to them on the left. The floor had btoken tiles and everything was old and bending down to load/unload the front load washing machine at floor level was become a pain. As there is a void behind the wall it seemed practical to recess the washer and dryer at a more accessable level. As the budget was tight there is also some recycled materials like skirting board and carpet tiles.

for the base of the hole in the wall to support the washer and dryer especially when in spin cycle.

to line the recess with
Smartex pipe and fittings to re route the water
pvc pipe for drainage
for one of the overhead cupboards and a 400mm for the other
other items include Kaboodle cabinet for the Vanity/wash tub, as the plaster was damaged behind the skirting board i used some salvaged some old door frames from the tip shop which doubled as higher skirting board and kick board under the cabinet. the carpet tiles are recycled from an office refurbish. the tiles were from the Bunnings discount trolly.

Jack Hammer with wide blade to remove old floor tiles
concrete sander to level the floor and remove old tile adhesive which appeared to be cement
the usual saws, sanders, drills, levels, squares, pvc and pex pipe cutters
- Step 1:
used the jack hammer to remove the tiles and then the concrete sander to remove the tile adhesive and level the floor.
cut the hole in the wall and bolted a ledger board to the far brick wall in the void under the house and then attached joists back to the all that i cut the hole in with posts/studs under the ledger and joists for extra support as the washer will be sort of bouncing when in spin cycle.
re arranged the plumbing which both come in and go out on the left wall, it had to be lowered as the original went across the middle of the washer/dryer so the sink and washer have a water supply and extended the drain to attach to the sink and added a drain for the washer. when the plumbing was done installed the top cupboards and lined the hole with the tongue and groove flooring.
Then assembled the cabinet and screwed into place and connected the plumbing, tiled the wall then attached the mirrored cabinet.
Then painted the walls and trimmed down the door frames to fit for a kick board and skirting and layed the second hand carpet tiles.
