How to fix loose door handles?

Hi,

I seeing assistance in tightening my door handles as they are loose. I had a look on the community and wasn't able to find a solution that matched my issue.

I can't figure out how to tighten them. There is a grub screw on the handle. How do I go about tightening them and what sort of an Allen key is required?

Could you let us know exactly how the door handles are loose? Are the lever handles themselves loose and flopping down, or does it seem like the whole handle assembly isn't clamping securely to the door?

Most discussions about loose door handles end up having the same solution. The decorative cover flange usually needs to be removed to expose the fixing screws behind it. Tightening these screws draws the handles together from either side of the door, clamping them securely against the door.

In your case, you may or may not need to remove the lever from the spindle first by loosening the grub screw you've found. Before doing that, I'd try using a small flat-bladed screwdriver to gently pry off the decorative cover flange. Most simply clip into place, and there's often a small notch around the edge where you can insert the screwdriver.

Once the cover flange is removed, you'll be able to see whether the fixing screws are accessible or whether the handle needs to come off first to gain access to them.
