hi
We’ve finally got the keys today to our forever home. The floors are pine and been covered up with carpet or Lino.. do I really need to sand to stain?
TIA
Hello @projectmumdanni
Congratulations in getting your forever home! Because this is your forever home and it is no longer a rental place, there is no urgent need to rush this particular project. Sanding the floor will give you that smooth satin finish you've seen in magazines and featured show homes. Sealing or staining it now will result in a rough patchy finish, and you'll end up doing it again. My best advice is to do it one room at a time if you don't have the time to do it all in one go.
Here are some handy step-by-step guides:
Please remember that floor sanders and edging sanders can be rented at the store. Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a heavy-duty mask that will filter out sanding dust. I recommend making a project list and making it as detailed as possible. This will keep your renovation projects manageable and organized.
