Stick on tiles for island bench makeover

The project:

best friend having a hard time, she’s away for few weeks so doing some things in her home as a surprise

- Materials:

stick on tiles, skirting board white paint

- Tools:

Ryobi circular saw

- Step 1:

cleaned all the existing panel with water and vinegar

- Step 2:

measured how many tiles and cut a few too size

- Step 3:

stuck them on carefully

- Step 4:

Used Ryobi jigsaw and Ryobi nail gin to fit skirting board piece

What a thoughtful surprise for your friend. Peel-and-stick tiles can be a great way to give a space a fresh new look without the time and expense of a full renovation, and adding the new skirting board really helps finish everything off neatly.

Did you run into any challenges getting the tiles aligned, particularly around corners or edges? I'm sure other members would also appreciate any tips you picked up for achieving a smooth, bubble-free finish.

Hey Mitchell the first few were a bit tricky, but I realised matching the top and slowly going down and pushing from centre of tiles to the outside works great. Also a little hint, use a pin/needle in centre of bubble if you get any and push it through then squash it, works a treat and no mark left.

on the corners I’m adding a very slim piece of white flat edging just to made it a little more uniformed. They are really easy to cut and was surprised how well the aligned esp my first time. Only took up DIY 8 weeks ago so I’m learning lots each project and with the help of this page
