Zen den using Backyard Discovery Saxony gazebo

The project:

I purchased a Backyard Discovery Saxony BBQ gazebo online from Bunnings. It came with a PowerPort making powering up the fairy lights and garden water sculpture a breeze. I transformed the gazebo into a beautiful relaxing 'zen den'. It is perfect for sitting outdoors with friends and having a cuppa or enjoying some quiet time. I sourced some unique second hand leadlight windows. Bunnings has been a great source of building materials to make this dream a reality ... including the fairy lights. It just doesn't look quaint but has added a wonderful 'feeling' to our garden and I have loved the project journey. Thanks Bunnings!

- Step 1:

Dug holes for corner posts of the Backyard Discovery Gazebo

Built the Gazebo frame. Decided to leave the metal sides off and put old windows on sides.

- Step 2:

Gathered recycled leadlight windows and set about restoring the frames etc

- Step 3:

Began sourcing unique recycled items to clad sides. Used Makita tools to restore frames etc.

- Step 4:

Added recycled doors.

Decided to extend the space to allow use of more unique stained glass windows. Our dogs were always a part of the journey. We changed roof so it covered the extension with supplies from Bunnings.

- Step 5:

Found old louvres to clad sides but still allow air to move through to keep cool

What a beautiful space you've created. I love how you've taken the gazebo and transformed it into something completely unique by incorporating the restored leadlight windows, recycled doors and louvres. It has so much character, and I can certainly see why you've named it the "Zen Den". It looks like the perfect spot to relax with a cuppa or unwind at the end of the day.

The photos really show how the project evolved over time, and it's great to see so many recycled materials finding a new purpose. I'm sure your four-legged helpers enjoyed supervising the build as well.
