Outdoor kitchen with tiled splashback

The project:

We decided to build an outdoor kitchen at the end of our recently renovated back deck, which is adjacent to our laundry door. It gives us extra cupboard space for storing bbq equipment and other kitchen appliances. It has turned out to be a fantastic addition to our alfresco entertainment area. We are very happy with the finished product !

- Materials:

Tiles; Crazypave Java Beige 300mmx300mm-(12 units), black edge trim- 3metres, grout& glue.

Accacia panel brown bench top (1)

Custompine melamine white 2400x595x19mm- (5)

Cement sheet 1200x2400- (2)

Plywood structural 2400x1200x17mm-(1)

T Handle door handles (4), adjustable leg set (8), soft close door hinges (8)

Black paint and clear varnish

Wood screws & construction glue, sandpaper

- Tools:

Ozito circular saw, Ozito 18volt cordless drill, Ozito compound mitre saw, hammer, hand saw, spirit level , set square, clamps, cement sheet cutter, tape measure, pencil, sand paper, wood screws & saftey equipment ( ear muffs, mask, gloves)

- Step 1:

1. Measure & cut cement sheet
2. Screw and glue cement sheet to walls
3. Measure, cut and assemble cupboard carcasses
4. Measure and cut cupboard doors
5. Measure and cut benchtop & attach to cupboard carcasses
6. Paint cupboard doors
7. Attach cupboard doors & door handles
8. Sand and varnish the bench top
9. Cut and glue tile splashback & fit black edge trim.
10. Grout and seal tile splashback
11. Measure, cut and attach kick board and surround edge

This is a brilliant addition to your entertaining area. The tiled splashback is a real standout feature, and I like how the black trim ties in with the handles to give the whole kitchen a modern, cohesive look. It also sounds like you've made the most of the location by adding some much-needed storage right beside the deck and laundry.
