Entryway mudroom using ply, MDF and Dulux

The project:

We needed a place for all the excess stuff a family accumulates with easy access for the smaller ones and out of reach access for us to store things. I built the bench seat with shoe storage cupboard first to hide the mountain of shoes by the door.

- Step 1:

I built the bench seat frame first. Covered it in plywood. Then veneer and sealer.

Then the bottom centre shoe cupboard. This was painted

- Step 2:

I built the frame for the tall cupboard. Then added the doors, after cutting the arch detail in the thinner plywood and glueing it to the door. I used a router to create the finger pulls

. This was painted and sealed.

- Step 3:

I fixed the panelling to the wall with liquid nails and some screws into studs at the corners. Then painted

I created the frame for the floating shelf, then covered in ply, veneer and poly.

Constructed the long top cupboard added doors, hung and painted.

Then measure and cut the additional open box at the end, veneered, sealed and installed.

- Step 4:

Adding the gold hooks last.

This has come together beautifully. The wall panelling, floating timber shelf and long overhead cupboard give the space a really polished, built-in look, while the open box at the end adds a nice point of difference that matches the other timber finishes.

The gold hooks were a great finishing touch and work really well with the timber tones and wall panelling.

You've achieved a really high-end custom look and should be very proud of what you've achieved. Thank you for sharing.
