The project:
Our laundry is also the entrance to the house most people use, as its close to where we park when coming in.
Its not a big space, but funtional.
It was in a bit of a state, Cracked wall tiles, and a dead washing machine, and leaky tap fitting to the washing machine.
I had some items left from a project in the workshop, (The Red Gloss board, I had hanging round for ever) We had just purchased a New Washing machine,
I had Items that I also had stored away from Purchases from Bunnings when I found something on sale that I would earmark for future projects.
I don't have any main photos of before I made it over, only the start of demolition.
I decided to reuse what I could and where I could.
The laundry sink unit, just remove and respray with hammarite, and I had some glass fronted draws we had purchased many years ago, so they would go in between the washing machine and the Sink, where the fridge used to sit, if I could make it fit.
I also had some Clearence Aluminium faced sheeting I had picked up at Bunnings some years before kicking round the workshop, I used on cabinets you will see in another project related to the laundry, on the other side of the room.

Gyprock CSR 2400 x 1200 x 10mm 2.88sqm Aquachek
- Plasterboard screws
- Plasterboard stud adhesive
- Bastion waterproof paint
- Mondella Tap

- New washing machine fittings with tap attached for under the sink unit, instead of on the wall.

- Ozito reciprocating saw
- Ryobi table saw for cutting boards

- Clamps (I had Irwin and Craftright)
- Router
- Measuring tape
- Ozito orbital sander
- GMC drop saw
- Ryobi Belt sander
- Step 1:
Remove everything not nailed down, and start demolishing.
Rip out the tiles, cut away the old board. I chose not to remove all the Plasterboard, no need, so I cut and removed it to just below the height Id make the splashback so the join would be hidden. I still taped, stopped up and sanded the join even though it would be hidden.
Once the room and been stripped, I drew up plans, and measured everything so I could make it all fit.
- Step 2:
- Sink unit, was taken to the carport where I sanded it ,
- Taped paper over the stainless steel top
- Applied metal undercoat paint
- Later sprayed it with Hammerite
- Step 3:
Cut Timber length of Pine 18 x 19 x 2400,
Glued the pieces together to make up a worktop.
Sanded it and varnished it Set aside.
- Step 4:
Start to reinstall and assemble.
Plumbing, I set it all up and Max my plumber mate did the connections. He was impressed by my pipe bending skills. (his words not mine.)
Add splashback
paint ect.
