Pine DIY cubby house with deck

The project:

Cubby House built completely from Bunnings products including paint and marine varnish. Built for our 2 little grandsons.

- Materials:

Treated Pine timber for base & frames (90 x 45mm) Ripped these in halves for frames.

Treated Pine Decking 90mm for base.

Pine lining for walls

Perspex for Windows, Hinges for doors and windows. Windows frames Pine 45 x 22mm

Marine varnish 2 litres & samples paint pots for painted animals

- Tools:

All cord & cordless tools used were Ozito products such as Drop saw, circular saw, chisels, holesaw, drills, sander, jigsaw, grinder for roof sheets.

- Step 1:

1. Made 4 x frames, bolted them together and pitched roof from same materials.
2. Used pine lining to sheet walls and fill door whilst cutting perspex with snap and score process for windows
3. Sheeted roof with colorbond sheets and Ridge capping
4. Made Decking base, larger than cubby to incorporate a verandah area. Added 2 supports a poles for verandah
5. Used paint pots with variius colours to paint stencils copied onto pine lining.
6. Used exterior marine varnish to cover walls and protect exterior walls.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is brilliant to have you with us.

You've done a fantastic job creating this cubby house for your grandsons. I have no doubt it will be the site of some great adventures and wonderfully imaginative play for years to come.

The cartoon animals painted across the front facade are a wonderful personal touch and make it feel especially fun and welcoming. The marine varnish should also help protect the timber and keep the cubby looking great outdoors.

Congratulations on a fantastic project. I am sure your grandsons love it.
