Linen closet barn door

The project:

My partner and I made this barn door for our linen room, we also built the linen cupboard in to wasted space in the front entry hallway. Using timber left over from outside house repairs and some recycled timber from floorboards we removed during house renovation of our 124 year old house.

- Materials:

Kempsey Profile treated pine weatherboard I/N 0053220

Taubmans white paint I/N 0217221

Barn door track side fix set I/N 0011861

- Tools:

ryobi drill, saw, screw driver, planer, saw horses, paint brushes, sandpaper, etc

- Step 1:

Cut timber to length

Lay boards on flat surface so we could screw and glue from behind

Added cross timbers glued and screwed them on

Planed edges to square up

Filled nail and screw holes

Sanded whole door

Painted 2 coats of paint

Fitted barn door rail to door and wall

Added handle and hung the door

You've done a fantastic job building this barn door, and it is really interesting to hear that you used recycled timber floorboards that were previously used in your 124-year-old house.

You've achieved a very clean finish on what is surely a very sturdy door.
