Bathroom using garage storage room

The project:

To create a functional bathroom from an existing unusable storeage area within a lower level garage.

It seemed somewhat overwhelming at the start but once approvals were obtained, and a step by step plan developed, the project started. All first fix plumbing and electrical wiring was performed by qualified trades which left the remaining tasks and fitout to be completed by myself……and the fun began!!

Along with the usual suspects (eg: hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, allen keys), specific tools were required to perform all the necessary tasks as listed below:

- Step 1:

Gyprock the ceiling and frame up a wall prior to first fix plumbing.

- Step 2:

Plumbing complete with hot/cold and drainage.

- Step 3:

Installed wet wall sheeting, waterproof flooring and shower base.

- Step 4:

Now for the tricky bit, install shower screen, toilet and vanity.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is brilliant to have you with us.

Thank you for sharing your new bathroom project. It is really interesting looking between those first two images to see just how drastic a change there is.

You haven't mentioned it, but I imagine it was messy work to install the floor drain and drain for your shower. Retrofitting wastes in a concrete slab is no small task and adds some real complexity to a job like this. Your plumber has done a great job there.

In the end, the space looks clean, modern and functional and I'm sure it is a welcome addition to your home.
